How To Appy Clip In Hair Extensions

Start by making four groups out of your clip in hair extensions according to the number of clips on each strip.

Now take your first hair section/parting in the lower nape of the neck for the widest extension.  Open each clip on the hair extension and insert at the root of your hair - snap closed the clips and move onto the next section.

To prevent slipping on fine hair you can tease the hair root with a comb and some hair spray.  Keep working up the back of the head - section hair again and clip the next wider just above the previous one.

Once you have fitted all the of clip in hair extensions into the back of your hair it is time to move onto the front sides.  If you wear a side parting in your hair you may want to clip two of the '1 clip' wefts on the heavier side of your parting.

There are other variations for wearing the hair extensions.  Some don't wear the single 1 clip extensions at the top of the head, others wear just a few extensions at the nape.  Everyone is unique and everyone will have their own way of wearing the clip in hair.

Clip In hair Extensions - Maintainence Guide

Do not use styling products with strong hold factor, a serum is all that is needed.  Remove before sleeping.  Always use heat protection spray when applying heat to the extensions.  A complete shampoo and treatment can be applied once every four to six weeks, only if needed (Hair extensions don't have the supply of natural oils which your own hair has and washing them too often will dry them prematurely).  Apply diluted shampoo and very gently stroke through the hair from root to tip keeping hands open and flat, rinse and repeat with conditioner.  The use of a shower head may be easier and keeping the top clip part of the extension dry is recommended.  Avoid tangles and allow hair to air dry naturally.  Do not comb hair when wet.  Drying may be an overnight process, once dry gently comb through the hair starting at the tips, apply a heat protection product and straighten each strip individually, use a swift action and do not hold the straighteners in one place.

How To Dye Human Hair Extensions

The extensions can only be dyed darker by 2 shades, or you can add a toner. They can’t be lightened or bleached as they have already been through a chemical process and additional lightening or bleaching is likely to affect the condition of the hair.

We recommend applying dye to each strip of hair one at a time and to always perform a test strand. This means dyeing just a few strands of the hair first to check the result shade is correct.

Do not rub or tangle the hair, apply the dye and using the flat palms of your hands pat it though the hair in a stroking motion from root to tip.

Semi permanent, permanent, quasi-permanent, toner and vibrant dyes can be used.  The maximum peroxide which can be used is 20vol (6%).

The hair can be dyed several times but remember, just as your own hair will become damaged from certain dyes so too will the extensions.

Always follow the dye manufacturers instructions and be sure to follow our care guidelines when washing and drying the hair.
